In Memory of Viola "Vi" Ann Hartman

Viola "Vi" Ann Hartman was born in Caldwell, Texas, on September 9, 1934, and passed away on June 16, 2025. She grew up in Bryan, Texas.

Vi was an accomplished woman. Her career spanned over 30 years of civilian Civil Service at Holloman AFB, New Mexico. She was the Chief of Supply secretary, a Management Analyst in the Comptroller Squadron, and retired as a Resource Advisor in the Services Squadron.

She greatly served her community and was involved in many civic groups including the following professional and community service organizations, Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) treasurer, and an honorary lifetime member of Elks Lodge #1897. She joined the Kiwanis International, holding many high-level offices including Lieutenant Governor and treasurer of the Southwest District. As a young professional, she was an integral part of American Business Woman’s Association, Cholla chapter. She was elected as Business Woman of the Year for ABWA, in 1985. She received many other honors throughout her lifetime.

After her retirement, Vi devoted her time to be caregiver of her beloved, Chuck Hartman, of 38 years, who recently passed away in November 2024. She was an exceptional person, a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Vi is survived by her daughters, Dianne Sealander and husband Dwayne Nowell, Karen Hunter and husband David; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Cellurale and husband John, of PA, Jeremy Paz of Alamogordo; step grandson, Jason Nowell and wife Maggie of Alamogordo; five great grandchildren, Gavin and John Cellurale Jr. of PA, Alyssa Jenkins and husband Nick of CO, Elizabeth Paz, and Anthony Paz of Alamogordo; step great granddaughter, Camilla Nowell of Alamogordo; one great-great grandson, Ezra Jenkins of CO.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hartman; first husband, Joseph Batten; second husband, Rollin Pietz; son, Terry Batten; parents, John and Vlasta Dana; brother, John Dana; sister-in-law, Maurine Dana.

Funeral services will be held at Alamogordo Funeral Home, 2301 E 1st Street in Alamogordo on Saturday, June 21, 2025, with Pastor Timothy Green officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am with interment to follow at Monte Vista Cemetery. A reception will follow services at 12:00 pm at the Scenic Chapel located at 1334 N Scenic Drive, Alamogordo.

Pallbearers include Jason Nowell, Jeremy and Anthony Paz, Gavin and John Cellurale Jr., and David Hunter. Honorary Pallbearers are Dwayne Nowell and John Cellurale.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Vi’s name to Alamogordo Home Health Care and Hospice, Elks Lodge #1897, or Kiwanis Club #31460.
