Donald Bolton Whitehouse, 88, passed away peacefully at his home in Tularosa, NM on
Thursday April 10, 2025. He will be remembered as a softspoken soul with a one-of-a-kind sense of humor.
Don was born in Long Beach. Ca on February 3, 1937, as the firstborn to Thelma and Donald Whitehouse. Don spent most of his childhood in Winnetka, II and graduated from New Trier High School in 1955, where he played varsity tennis. After graduation he enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Thailand. He was a proud veteran, and humble about his service. Upon returning home, Don attended Knox College in Galesburg, II and ultimately graduated from the University of Arkansas.
After graduation Don worked as a manager in the personnel department at Hostess. His career. took him to the automobile industry where he mastered the art of selling cars and eventually opened his own RV dealership in Brevard North Carolina.
Don had many passions throughout his life, including trains, lifting weights, music, camping in his RV, and anything that entailed spending time outdoors. His greatest joys were family {including his church families} and friends {including all the furry friends}. His deep faith and
compassionate heart traveled with him every day and on every adventure. A devoted husband, brother, son, uncle, cousin and perhaps greatest of all, friend; he spread love, joy, and laughter to us all. If Don wasn't making us laugh, he was filling the room with his beautiful piano playing, without ever having sheet music in front of him. He played from the heart - just the way he
lived his life.
Don was predeceased by the love of his life, wife Cynthia Whitehouse, parents Thelma and Donald Whitehouse, and sister Pamela Rooney {Jack}. He is survived by his brother Rick Whitehouse {Sara}, nephew Russell Zimmermann {Tara}, niece Julie Shea {Robert}, nephew Richie Whitehouse, and great nephews Charlie, Patrick {Emma}, Wyatt and Kelly Shea.
The family would like to thank Keith Wood for his unwavering friendship.
A celebration of life to be announced later.
