The Word is Spreading about Mobile Home Parks

The issues concerning home park residents are spreading. The 2025 New Mexico legislative session failed to pass three bills that were introduced to add oversight, enforcement and rent control protections for mobile home park residents. However, the attention these bills created has spread the word about the problems associated with mobile home parks, primarily the fact that more parks are being bought by investor groups and out-of-state owners who are buying parks, increasing rents and eliminating services leaving residents at the mercy of these predatory business practices.

It is not just a problem in New Mexico.

Virtually every state is facing the same or similar issues related to mobile home parks. Some states have taken action, but New Mexico continues to fail to address these issues.

News media have begun to feature stories on these problems. Private organizations are sponsoring webinars, hosting meetings and other activities to spread the word.

The issues are gaining the attention of foreign news.

A French news/filmmaker is currently interviewing members of the California mobile home organization "Golden State Manufactured Homeowners League." They are coming to New Mexico and other states to interview residents about the issues concerning mobile home parks and investor group owners.

All of this translates into the devaluation of property values and declining interest of future potential residents buying existing homes for sale, or placing their homes in parks. More and more park homes are going up for sale as the apparent message becomes "get out while you can."

All of this is due to the greed of the park owners, and the failure of the legislature to act. The word is definitely spreading about the problems associated with mobile home parks.
