In Memory of Juanita "Jane" Sierra Montes

It is with great sadness that our family regrettably announces that our beautiful and loving mother, Juanita (Jane) Sierra (Montes), passed away on April 20, 2025. Jane was called by our Lord Jesus at the age of 87, where she is now resting peacefully after bearing her cross in a long battle of many illnesses. Jane was born May 3, 1937, in Alamogordo, New Mexico to Jose G. Chavez and Juanita (Monroy) Chavez.

Survivors include her 2 daughters, Julie Dakin (Ron) of San Antonio, TX and Yvonne Gurule (Holbert) of Albuquerque, NM; her 5 sons, Jerry Joe Sierra (Debra) of Seminole, TX, Rudy Sierra, Frank Sierra (Diana), Carlos Sierra, Desmond Sierra (Debbie) all of Alamogordo. Juanita was blessed with 21 grandchildren, Julie (Rene), Jerry Joe (Lovess, Michael, Dario, Christopher, Denice, Julian), Frank (Franklin, Vanessa, April Melgoza), Yvonne (Michelle Walters, Andrew, Anthony Rodriguez), Carlos (Crystal, Carlos Jr., Estrella Sierra), Desmond (Timmy, Tyler Rogers, Lillian, Grace Sierra); including numerous great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Jane is also survived by her sisters, Virgina Estrada (Pete), Patsy Padilla (Elejio), Lupe Maynez (Oscar); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews whom she truly loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Juanita Chavez; spouses, Geronimo Sierra and Richard Montes; sisters, Lorenza “Sister” Gonzalez, Josephine Telles, Mary Jaramillo, Katy Pacheco; brothers, Reynaldo (Ricky) Chavez and Jose (Sonny) Chavez Jr.; granddaughter, Tiffany Rodgers.

Our Beautiful Mother Jane was well known throughout the community for her kindness, loving heart, and dedication to her family, establishing many special friendships along the way, which she truly valued and brought her many years of pleasure and great satisfaction.

For most of her life, from the early age of 8, leaving school, Jane was dedicated to providing care for her grandmother and assisting many elderly over many years who trusted in her care, as it seems she was predestined for helping anyone with a need, followed by her passion for traveling. Jane enjoyed spending time with her friends, family, and home life.

Services for Jane will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 700 Delaware Ave.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 10:30 am. Rosary will be recited at 10:30 am with Mass celebrated at 11:00 am.

Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery.

Reception and meet and greet will be held following services at St. Jude Parish Hall, 1404 College Ave.

Pallbearers include Michael Sierra, Carlos Sierra Jr., Anthony Rodriguez, Andrew Rodriguez, Tim Rodgers, and Richard Coyazo. Honorary Pallbearers are Franklin Sierra, Franklin Sierra Jr., Christopher Aragon, and Tyler Rodgers.

The Sierra family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the funeral services.
