In Memory of Ramon “Saso” Noriega Benitez, a.k.a. “Razor”
Ramon “Saso” Noriega Benitez, a.k.a. “Razor”, was granted his silver wings on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, surrounded by his family. He was a lifelong resident of Alamogordo. Those who preceded from this life were his father, Inez “Naya” Benitez and his beloved son, Daniel Miguel Ramon Contreras Benitez. Ramon is survived by his daughter, Lisa Torres (David Valenzuela) and son, Eric Benitez (Shanice Lara) who were his pride and joy; sister, Maria Rodriguez (Frank); brother, Abraham Benitez (Gina); mother, Guadalupe Jovita “Tobi” Noriega. He leaves his beautiful grandchildren who he loved dearly, Jeremy Lujan, Julian Torres, Ariana Torres, Tylan Valenzuela, Julianna Benitez, Abraham Lara, David Lara, Sophia Lopez, Baby Daniel Benitez, and one great grandchild, Delilah Lujan.
Ramon was born in Tularosa, New Mexico. He attended and graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1978 while active in sports. Upon graduation, he was an apprentice while working for his Uncle Tony at Antonio Noriega Construction where throughout his life it became his trade and was a big enthusiast at building in a creative, artistic, and very detailed fashion. At the age of six, Ramon began riding his motorcycle up and down the alley on 8th Street “Calle Ocho” and eventually in his teen years was participating in motocross at La Luz Speedway. He met and rode with several bikers to include family and friends. The biker life brought him joy, happiness, and freedom. There wasn’t a time when he wasn’t listening to music, dancing, or enjoying barbecue while sitting next to a fire and welcoming any and all company. Eventually Ramon was able to ride with his children, Lisa, Daniel, and Eric. To relax on his down time, he spent several hours drawing masterpieces of artwork on paper. His artistic nature was not just in construction and paper; it continued to his home and yard. Ramon was a big Dallas Cowboys fan and was able to attend two live games.
Ramon's beautiful smile would light up a room, witty jokes would bring a smile to your face, and his laughter was contagious. Saso always helped people by lending a helping hand. He didn’t waste time and was constantly working on something. He was the strongest, smartest, soul loving, frugal, and intense person who loved the Lord and fought to the very end until his Lord and Savior set him free and picked him up in his Harley to greet his father, Inez, and son, Daniel, in heaven.
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
One of his many tattoos included this beautiful writing “The hands of God will open the gates of heaven, and your wings will soar with him.” On March 2, 2025, Ramon accepted the Lord as his Savior at Christ Community Church.
Please join our family to celebrate the life of our dad, Ramon N. Benitez, at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Mountain View Church with Pastor Anthony Torres officiating. A reception will follow.
A bike ride will be scheduled at a later date. All and any bikers are welcome to join in one last ride to honor Razor’s memory.
