In Memory of Shawn Patrick Oswalt

Shawn Patrick Oswalt, born February 28, 1977, in Amarillo, Texas, entered into eternal rest on March 29, 2025, in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

A devoted and loving father, Shawn’s greatest joy in life was his beloved son, Jaycen, whom he cherished beyond measure.

As a child, Shawn resided in the Denver, Colorado area, Alamogordo, New Mexico, and Phoenix, Arizona. Shawn graduated from high school in 1995 from 91st Psalm Christian School in Phoenix, Arizona. Shortly thereafter, he joined the United States Navy, and was stationed at Great Lakes, Illinois, where he completed Navy Boot Camp. In the years following, he moved back to Alamogordo to work in the real estate business with his uncle and aunt, Roger and Barbie Simmons. Shawn first worked as Barbie’s real estate assistant, then got his Broker’s license, and eventually bought ERA Simmons Real Estate when the Simmons retired. Shawn’s clients often became lifelong friends, drawn to his warmth, generosity, and tireless dedication.

Those who knew Shawn will remember his selfless nature, his hearty laughter, and his big bear hugs. He was always the first to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or a comforting word. Shawn’s legacy will be his love for The Lord. His impact will echo through the many lives he touched.

Shawn is survived by his son, Jaycen, his loving parents, Sandra and John Quest, and Dennis and Gail Oswalt; his siblings , Melissa Oswalt-Madrid and her husband Anthony, Jenna Walraven and her husband Kyle, Kevin Oswalt and his wife Enedia, and Preston and Chase Quest. He is also survived by his precious nieces and nephews, Maverick Madrid, Chereth Johnson-Oswalt, Alice and Brody Walraven, and Mikaela and Olive Oswalt.

Shawn was preceded in death by Johnie Ruth Hill, his beloved grandmother who taught 4th grade at Sacramento School for many years.

Celebration of Life services will be held at Christ Community Church on Friday, April 25, 2025 at 11:00 am with Pastor Timothy Brock officiating.

Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to Teen Challenge of Arizona, 1515 Grand Ave. Phoenix, AZ 85007, or Teen Challenge of New Mexico, an organization that held a special place in Shawn’s heart.

The Oswalt family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel. Cremation will take place at PCS.
