In Memory of Marvin V. Hill, Sr.

Marvin V. Hill, Sr., affectionately known as Buddy, passed away on March 27, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by his loved ones in Carrizozo, NM. He was born on October 26, 1946, in Crystal City, Texas. Buddy dedicated 36 years of his career to the United States Postal Service, retiring as the Postmaster of Nogal, New Mexico. Following his retirement, he founded his own bus company and spent 22 years driving a school bus for Carrizozo Schools. He also worked briefly for the City of Carrizozo.

Buddy was a man of boundless energy who never let his declining health slow him down. He took great pride in maintaining his yard, staying active with various projects, and cruising around town. A passionate enthusiast of classic cars, he enjoyed participating in car races, as well as hunting and spending time outdoors with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Carmen Hill; his children, Marvin V. Hill (Buddy), Jr. and wife, Denise Hill of Carrizozo, NM and his daughter, Denise Narvaez of Alamogordo, NM. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jordan Hall (Jamar), Jace Hill (Teryn), Jacob Narvaez, and Jaden Narvaez, and his great-grandchildren, Ellie and Emmy Hall. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Bea Sheehan, Rachel Rominger, and Martha Walters; his brothers-in-law, LeeRoy Najar, Sr. and Refugio Najar, Jr.; as well as many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Wayland Hill, Sr., and Verna Ruth Hill; his brothers, Wayland Hill, Jr. and Dennis Hill; his sisters, Arlene Najar and Sharon Lueras; and his brother-in-law, Albert Najar.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Carrizozo, New Mexico followed by interment at Guadalupe Cemetery in Carrizozo, NM.

The Hill family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home.
