It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ada Hendryx, who left us on March 14, 2025, at her residence in Alamogordo, NM. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend, whose kindness, strength, and love touched all who knew her.
Ada was born on April 13, 1943, in La Mesa, NM to Claud Cogburn and Helen McCoy Cogburn. Ada lived a life full of love, laughter, devotion to her family and church. She was married to Bill Hendryx in 1963 until his passing in 1996. They resided for many years in Las Cruces NM. before moving to various cities in Texas and Oklahoma. Bill and Ada returned to New Mexico in 1991, getting back to the place they so dearly loved.
Ada's career span various occupations including Field Accountant for Manhattan Construction while in Arlington, TX as well as a variety of positions with the State of New Mexico, the last being a Senior Citizen Director for Lincoln County in Carrizozo, NM where she was deeply adored by its residence until her retirement in 2013.
Bill and Ada have two children, Wayne Hendryx of Fort Worth, TX and David Hendryx of Houston, TX.
Ada cared about work, but her passion and love were for Christ! Everyone that knew her or was even an acquaintance of hers knew that fellowship was her true calling! She served as an Elder at Cottonwood Christian Fellowship in Alamogordo, NM up until her passing, exemplifying what a faith-based life should look like. She made a lasting impact on those around her.
Ada was one of 7 children and was the eldest daughter. She is survived by her sister, Phyllis; sons, Wayne and David; daughter-in-love, DeNaye; her two granddaughters, McKinley and Kylie; sister-in-law, Trudy Hendryx; step granddaughter Jayme; as well as many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory. She is now reunited with her parents, husband, siblings, brother-in-law, Alva Hendryx, and step grandson, Monty.
A Celebration of Life in remembrance of Ada will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, April 19, 2025, at Cottonwood Christian Fellowship Church, 7035 US-54, Alamogordo, NM. 88310.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Cottonwood Christian Fellowship building fund in her honor.
Her overabundance of love, wisdom, and warmth will remain in our hearts always.
