In Memory of Robert Torres Sr.

Robert Torres Sr. entered into his eternal rest on January 30, 2025, at the age of 69. His recent struggle with cancer revealed not only his resilience but also the radiant spirit he carried, even through the pain. He faced his challenges with a smile, emerging as a hero in his own right and his strength was displayed until his final breath. Robert passed away in his home in Alamogordo, NM.

Most commonly known as Papo, Robert lived a beautiful life. Born on May 8, 1955, in Alamogordo, NM, he was the son of Patricio and Maria Torres. He grew up in Dunagan with his parents and his eight siblings.

Robert attended Alamogordo Public Schools and later received his GED. He gained his working experience at the Plaza Cafe before joining his father at White Sands Forest Products, where he dedicated many years of service.

Robert found joy in nature-hunting, fishing, camping, and tending to his land. He enjoyed softball in his youth and throughout his life he always loved music. His greatest love, however, was his family. In 1973, he met the love of his life, Gloria Torres. Their 52-year marriage was a testament to their enduring love.

Robert is now resting in peace with his parents, Patricio and Maria Torres; granddaughter, Evette Torres; and in-laws, Quintina and Victor Gutierrez.

He leaves a legacy of love with his wife, Gloria Torres; sons, Robert and Johnny (Sulema); daughters, Esmeralda (Vincent), Christina, Eliseo (Bouncer); 21 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; brothers, Manuel and Larry (Lola); sisters, Corina (late Jessie), Patsy (Benny), Rose (David), Arminda (Michael), Evelina, Antonia, Joan (late Paul); sisters-in-law: Rosa (Felix), Lourdes (Hector), Francisca (late Juan); many nieces, nephews and friends.

He leaves an immeasurable void as Robert was our anchor, our comfort, and our constant source of support. The love he shared and the memories we made will forever live in our hearts.
