In Memory of Michael Duane Walker

Michael Duane Walker, a long-time resident of Alamogordo, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 18, 2025. Michael was born in Reserve, New Mexico on February 16, 1959, to Jesse and Esther Lee Walker.

Mike, as most knew him, had a passion for country and western dancing. He shined brightest when he could “boot scoot” his way around a dance floor. He also enjoyed fishing, but spending quality time with his grandchildren was what made him happiest. His legacy will be the sense of adventure that will live on in their hearts forever.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Esther Lee; brothers, Onnie Lee, Bobby and Roy; former spouses, Terri Jo Harper-Blunt, Elizabeth Noble and Christine Campbell

He is survived by two brothers, William Walker and Henry (Robin) Walker; three sisters, Janie (Bob) Smith, Maryann (Don) Pruitt and Flossie (Dwayne) Morris; daughter, Jami (Scott) Ostler; sons, Jesse (Claire) Walker and Dexter Walker; grandchildren, Macey, Jesse Jr., Kaitlyn, Cameron, Kayla, Jordan, Cash; great grandchildren, Oaklan, Landon, Kove, Ruth, Raelynn, August. Mike was also loved by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Viewing for Michael will be held at Alamogordo Funeral Home on Sunday, January 26, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm which will be followed by a procession to his final resting site at Avis Cemetery in Weed, NM.

A Celebration of Life will be held after burial at the Weed School gymnasium. Meat dishes and beverages will be provided, but covered dishes and desserts would be greatly appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mike’s Honor to the Alamogordo Elks Lodge No. 1897. May Mike’s memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

The Walker family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the services.
