It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our brother, Simon Peter Acosta, who was born on May 5, 1980, in El Paso, Texas, to Ruben Acosta and Antonia Hernandez. Simon entered eternal life on December 27, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones.
Simon Peter Acosta had a deep passion for his work as an echocardiographer, dedicating 14 years to his career. An avid runner, he trained diligently for upcoming races and loved spending time in the natural beauty of New Mexico, exploring its mountains, rivers, and sunshine. His favorite place was his beloved Rancho Poco A Poco, where he enjoyed raising animals. Known for his compassion and caring nature, Simon formed lifelong friendships wherever he went. He was always ready with a kind word and words of encouragement for others. His love, smile, laughter, and kindness will be missed by all who knew him.
Simon is preceded in death by his parents, Ruben Acosta and Antonia Hernandez as well as his grandparents.
He is survived by his partner in life, Marcos Fajardo, and his stepmother, Cecilia Acosta. He is also loving remembered by his siblings: Ruben Acosta of Arizona, Mary Grace Acosta of California, Bernadette Acosta (Renee), Michelle Spicer (Mel) of Nevada, Gabriella Acosta, Zeke Ramirez (Vanessa), Celia Levine (Nick) of New York, and Star Ramirez.
Simon is also survived by 12 nephews, 8 nieces, 1 great-niece, and 1 great-nephew, along with numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles who will cherish his memory.
A Rosary for Simon will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday, January 18.2025 at Holy Family American National Catholic Church, 702 Parker Road, Las Cruces, NM 88005. The Mass of Christian Burial will follow immediately, officiated by Father Louie Amezaga. Cremation will take place and the inurnment of his cremains will be held at a later date.
The Acosta family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel to direct the services.
