Joanne Fobes (JoJo) passed peacefully among her family and beloved caregivers at Heritage Assisted Living on December 30th, 2025, in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was 93 years old.
Joanne was born March 3, 1931, in Tularosa, New Mexico. She was one of five siblings and loved her family dearly. She lived a full life and exhausted her body and mind with work on her ranch and as a prominent employee of Douglas Aircraft. She lived with her loving husband, Stan in Alamogordo, New Mexico; Honolulu, Hawaii; Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands; and Tularosa, New Mexico.
JoJo loved to entertain and host parties for close friends and family. She also loved to read thriller novels; attend Jazzercise class; play pool, cards, checkers and slots; and work in her yard. She was an active member of the Eagles and Elks Fraternal Organizations and VFW. She built a life she was proud of and lived it to the fullest.
Joanne is survived by her dear nieces, Pam (Andy) Andrakowicz, Jamee (Tom) Nelson, and Debbie (Melvin) Ragan; nephews Dewaine (Mari) and Doug (Beth) West; as well as many great-nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by many friends; her parents, Earl and Olive West; husband, Stanley Fobes; sister, Judie Havens; brothers, Sonny, Duane and Buddy West; daughter, Sharon Rae Kaleikini; and nephew, Russell West. She longed to be reunited with her dearly departed friends and family and we feel at peace knowing she is with them now.
