Frances Genevieve Gallegos Smith, 95, passed away on October 5, 2024, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. She was born on December 11, 1928, in Trinidad, Colorado to Adolph Louis Gallegos and Felecita De' Herrera, the oldest of 5 children. Raised in El Paso, TX, she attended Loretto Academy Catholic School.
Frances married Gilbert Mac Smith on June 11, 1949, in El Paso, TX. After traveling as a military family, they lived the majority of their life in Alamogordo, NM. Frances and Gilbert had 4 boys, 8 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Frances was a gifted artist, she loved to paint, sketch and work with stain glass. In her younger years, she raised AKC dogs for show, traveling to several states.
Survivors include her sons, Kenny (Gail) Smith, Thomas (Vicki) Smith; sister, Agnes Mceelven; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert; her parents; her sons, Gregory and Daniel; her siblings, Virgie (Jerry) Kriz, Jimmy (Bernie) Gallegos, Christine (Tony) Monaco; brother-in-law, Jim Maceelven.
The family would like to give a special thanks to granddaughters, KaMera and KaeDea; grandson-in-law, Will; Tracie, Danna, Rick; Ambercare Hospice, Victoria and Dr. Kay.
Rosary will be recited at 4:00 pm with Visitation to follow until 6:00 pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Alamogordo Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 am, Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in El Paso, TX.
Graveside Service will follow Mass at 1:30 pm at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
