In Memory of GLADYS MAE (RAGAN) BONNELL & DONALD WAYNE BONNELL

Gladys Mae (Ragan) Bonnell & Donald Wayne Bonnell Surrounded by her loved ones, Gladys Mae (Ragan) Bonnell, 88, went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 15, 2024. Following the death of his wife of 68 years, Don Bonnell, 89, went to be with our Lord and Savior on August 20th,2024.

Gladys was born November 20, 1935 in Miami, Texas to Henry (Pete) and Virgie (Attaway) Ragan (the eighth of twelve children). Gladys graduated from Cloudcroft High School in 1954. In 1981 she earned an Associate Degree in Arts. In 1982 she earned a second Associate Degree in Pre-Business. During the 80’s, she became a Licensed Real Estate Broker. In 1992, at the age of 57, she earned her Associate Degree of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse for 10 years. Gladys was a “force of nature”, loved the Lord, being around people and helping others in need. She always made everyone feel welcomed and was quite the “life of the party”.

Don was born September 24th, 1934 in Alamogordo New Mexico to Don & Bessie Bonnell. He graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1953. Don served in the National Guard from 1953-1962 as a SP/6 Radar Fire Control Mechanic. He graduated in 1954 with a certification in Radio Television Servicing from Draughon’s Business Collage in Wichita Falls TX. In 1959 he completed the Army Fundamentals of Electronics. From 1962-1967 he completed technical courses at NMSU-A, received certificates in Fundamentals of Radar, Complex PCM-Decom System and First-Class Radio Telephone License. He retired at the age of 59. Don loved the Lord, the outdoors, horses, working in his shop and was an avid hunter and fishermen.

Don and Gladys were married September 9th,1955, at the First Baptist Church in Cloudcroft NM. During their lifetime, Don and Gladys owned and operated multiple businesses; including Stork-Time Maternity, Wayside Cabins, Bridal Time, Cloudcroft Laundry Mat, Cloudcroft Inn & Restaurant, Cloudcroft Ice Cream Saloon, Pine Country Realty and The Little Village Restaurant in High Rolls Mountain Park.

Survivors include their children, Rhonda (and husband Johnny) Douglas; Randall (and wife Sandra) Bonnell, Lana (and husband Wendell) Harrington, Lisa (and husband Tony) Bell. 7 grandchildren, Stephani (and husband Bryan) Taylor, Justin (and wife Kendra) Bonnell, John Michael (and wife Amber) Douglas, Ryan (and wife Ashley) Bonnell, Kayla Bell, Tegan (and wife Erin) Harrington, Trevor (and wife Becca) Bell; 8 great grandchildren Calvin, Dean and Emilee Taylor, Paisley and Willa Bonnell, Shawn and Alyssa Bonnell, and Adalynn Bell. Gladys’s sister Myrtle Height and brother Johnny (and wife Faye) Ragan and Don’s sister Janet Cook. Special mention to someone they loved and helped raise, Teri (Guzeika) Biddle and her children Tiffani Cibotti and Matthew Carter.
