Diane Stuart Black joined her family in heaven on August 2nd, 2024 while family and friends visited as she completed her journey on earth.
Diane was born at a military hospital in Kittery, ME; the second child of Navy Commander Fred Stuart and his wife Shirley Tower. As an adult, Diane lived in the Charleston area, where she had a career in design.
It was there she met and married her husband, Navy officer, Phillip Anthony “Tony” Black. Diane and Tony had a long and happy marriage, moving about the country for different assignments and settling in Alamogordo, NM on his retirement. They enjoyed travelling and took frequent road trips, on which they would make stops to visit family and friends while seeing the national parks and other points of interest
After Tony passed away in 2018, Diane busied herself with new activities, becoming active in Christ Community Church in Alamogordo, joining a widow’s group and a game club and volunteering at the local Tularosa basin history museum in town. She also continued travelling, going on trips with friends she met through her new activities.
Diane will be laid to rest in the Angelfire military cemetery alongside her beloved husband, Tony, in a private ceremony. A memorial service will be held at the Christ Community Church chapel on Thursday, September 5th at 11am. All who knew her are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Diane’s name to the Billy Graham ministry.
