In Memory of Olga “Minnie” Davis

Olga “Minnie” Davis passed away on August 1st 2024 in the presence of family, friends, and her “Harold”.

In October of 1936, Olga was born to parents, Robert and Mable Sandys, in Burma. It was in Burma that she met and married “her Texan,” Harold Davis, a U.S. Army soldier from Fannin County, Texas. They had three amazing children, David (deceased), Robert (Ruth), and Susan Wilkinson (Jim). Married for 63 years, Harold and Olga have three grandchildren, James Wilkinson III, Michael, and Chance. Olga is survived by her husband of 63 years, Harold, her children and their families, and sisters Marguerite and Daffodil.

Olga is an alumnus of New Mexico State University and graduated with a Master’s Degree in teaching English as a Second Language or ESL. She taught ESL for 17 years in three different elementary schools in Alamogordo, focusing on non-English-speaking students. Seven of those years were teaching ESL to German students attending Holloman (AFB) Middle School. After retiring, she began volunteering with the Ladies Auxiliary at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center. She served in that capacity for five straight years, until she became ill.

Olga will be embraced by Jesus, her son David, sister Hyacinth, and her parents that have gone before her passing.

The Davis Family extends a special “Thank you” to the following people that assisted Olga in her final days. Patricia Cables, David Cables and Shirley Allen for their loving care of Olga at her home. Thank you also to the Registered Nurses from Amber Care Hospice, Angela and Victoria, for their very prompt and professional care.

A Graveside Service will be held at Monte Vista Cemetery on August 13th, 2024 at 10:00 am.
