In Memory of Desiree Angele Duran, or "Des"

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of our beautiful daughter Desiree Angele Duran, or "Des" as she liked to be called. Her incredible light was extinguished unexpectedly on July 23, 2024.

Desiree was born December 17, 2006 in Alamogordo, NM. She was a student at Alamogordo High School with many friends, a loving family and a devoted boyfriend who unfortunately passed away with her.

Surviving family members are: her parents-Robert "Bobby J or Bob" and Cori Duran, her brothers- Alejandro "Alex" Duran, Bobby Duran, his wife Judith and 2 nieces and 2 nephews, Grandmothers- Lina Duran and Paula Rich-Greeenwood, Aunt Dani Alpers and her husband Doug, Uncle Marty Sheppard, and Scrappy her baby dog.

Desiree was a beautiful energetic soul who was independent, loving, loyal, smart, funny, shy, artistic, and outgoing. The list could go on and on to describe what a wonderful person she was inside and out. During her 17 years of life she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends hanging out. She liked to try her hand at cooking and baking, playing on the Xbox , watching movies, shopping (especially for Hello Kitty stuff, lol), making videos and taking selfies on her phone, dancing, playing basketball and with her dog Scrappy. She was also part of various teams throughout the community.

As a child, she worked and performed with the Academy of Ballet at the Flickenger Center doing ballet and tap.

As an adolescent and teen she progressed to becoming a member of the Showtime "Strykers" dance team and Showtime "Royalty" cheer squad. She also played basketball as a member of the team "Otero County Lady Rebels." One of her proudest accomplishments was getting her first job at Walmart.

She is proceeded in death by her paternal Grandfather Charlie Duran Jr., maternal Great Grandmother Charmayne Davis, Great Grandfather Angelo Rich, Jr., Uncle Randy Rich.

A viewing will be held August 3, 2024, from 5-7 at Alamogordo Funeral Home, located at 2301 First Street, Alamogordo, NM. Those who wish to pay respect are welcome to join us. She touched everyone who knew her.

A Catholic church service will be held at a later date, at Immaculate Conception Church, date and time as yet to be determined. The family post an announcement at a later date.
