In Memory of Frank Charles Martinez

Frank Charles Martinez left this world surrounded by women who loved him, in the home he was born in on July 8, 2024.

On July 3, 1976, Frank married his beloved wife Mary (Blanco) after he graduated from Carrizozo High School while enlisted in the U.S. Army. Even on his last anniversary, Frank found the strength to leave the house and buy flowers for his beautiful bride.

Frank was a family-oriented man and a father figure to many of his nieces, nephews, and his daughters' friends. Frank was actively involved in coaching his daughters’ basketball and softball teams for several years. Frank never met a stranger and was always a friend to those in need. He was an accomplished artisan, a talented woodworker, a musician and singer, an electrician, a broncobuster, and an award-winning vegetable farmer at the Otero County Fair; he took pride in being a skilled Vaquero.

Frank had a deep fondness for Tularosa, New Mexico, and always maintained a home for his daughters and grandchildren, ensuring they had a place to call home no matter where life took them. He spent his last Father's Day surrounded by all his descendants in that cherished home.

Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Louise Martinez, older brothers Ernest and Sky Martinez, his older sisters Bonnie Profitt and Emma Martinez, brothers-in-law Ray Padilla, Clifford Blanco, and Willy Kerin, nieces Tanya Padilla, Corina Garcia, Karmen Beach, nephews Gary Garcia, David Sanchez, Eddie Martinez Jr., and Martin Barreras.

Frank is survived by his devoted wife Mary, his daughters, Theresa (Allen) Horne and Frances (Chris) Brown, granddaughters Martina (Tyler) Lloyd and Maritza (Justin) Alvarado, grandsons Arick (Lindsay) Horne, Andres Maldonado, Azariah Horne, and Xavier Brown, great-granddaughter Belle Lloyd and great-grandsons, Jude Horne and Josias Lloyd. Frank is also survived by his siblings, Darlene (Johnny) Garcia, Johnny (Judy) Martinez, Gloria (Ray) Barreras, Louise (Ray) Sanchez, Margaret (Rus) Allen, Mary (Greg) White, Lydia (Ed) Martinez, Charlie (Cindy) Blanco, Andrew (Lisa) Blanco, Patsi Kerin, Mari Blanco, and Carol (Trent) Atwood, as well as his honorary Daughter Bobbie Jo (Zack) Diaz, and honorary grandchildren Samantha Oberlander, Mason and Isaiah Diaz and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary, Theresa, and Frances would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Louise and Ray Sanchez, Carol and Trent Atwood, and Hospice Nurses Kara and Jeanette for their unwavering support and companionship over the last few months. Their love and support made it easier to be away from home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Mountain View Church in Alamogordo, 1300 Cuba Ave, Alamogordo, New Mexico where services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

Direct Cremation will take place under the care of PCS Direct Cremation Services.
