In Memory of David Truxal

David Truxal, 82, passed away on July 3, 2024, in Alamogordo, New Mexico. He was born in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania on October 12, 1941, to William and Frances (Love) Truxal.

David was raised in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by his loving parents. He attended Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio graduating in 1963 and obtaining a United States Air Force commission through the Reserve Officer Training Corps. Captain Truxal served in the Air Force for 12 years as a Developmental Engineer and Scientist. After receiving a medical retirement, he continued to serve his country as an engineer and civil servant until his retirement in 2015. One of his final projects was the construction of the Bannar Wind Tunnel at Yuma Proving Grounds while serving as a General Engineer for Joint Special Operations Command at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After his retirement, David lived in Fayetteville, North Carolina until moving out to Alamogordo and residing at the Bee Hive Assisted Living Home of Alamogordo until his death.

Survivors include his two sons, David Truxal of Omaha, Nebraska, Joseph Truxal of Alamogordo, New Mexico, and his three grandchildren. Both sons continue their father's tradition of serving in the United States Air Force.

He was preceded in death by his father, Captain William Truxal, United States Army, and mother, Frances Truxal.

A Memorial Service for David Truxal will be held at 5:00 pm, Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Alamogordo Funeral Home.
