In Memory of Virginia Ann Tepfer

Virginia Ann Tepfer, known to loved ones as Jenny, peacefully passed away on August 30, 2023, in Alamogordo, New Mexico, at the age of 97.

Virginia was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was the daughter of Thom and Lois Wemple and sister to Dorothy Wemple. Virginia was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Wesley Tepfer.

A Bachelor of Arts graduate of the University of Redlands, California, Virginia excelled in her career as an Executive Assistant at Hughes Aircraft Company. She also contributed her time as an “English as a Second Language” instructor at NMSU Alamogordo and showcased her literary talents as the author of "Chamizal," a romantic historical fiction novel set against the backdrop of the early 20th century history and personalities of the Alamogordo area. Jenny loved animals and during most of her life had at least one cat or dog who lived with her.

In her free time, Virginia enjoyed being a performer and chorus member during Alamogordo Music Theater productions. Playing the piano and singing in the church choir were two frequent activities, combined with supporting the local arts scene in Otero County. She especially loved the mountains, trees, deserts and seasons in southern New Mexico.

She found solace and community at Grace Methodist Church in Alamogordo, New Mexico.

Virginia is survived by her son, Charles South III, granddaughter Cara Angelique South, great-grandchildren Siena South-Ciero, Bobbie South-Ciero, and Luca South-Ciero.

Virginia Ann Tepfer will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A Memorial Service for Virginia will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Grace Methodist Church in Alamogordo.
