Debbie Barajas, born on June 28, 1958, in LaSalle, Illinois, peacefully passed away on March 23, 2024, in Alamogordo, NM. She was the beloved daughter of Don and Mary Lou Smith.
Debbie was a loving mother, devoted wife, and cherished grandmother. She was preceded in death by her father, Don Smith, her husband, Baldomero Barajas, and her son, T.J. Barajas.
Debbie is survived by her dear mother, Mary Lou Smith, her son Pedro (Selena) Barajas, her daughter Kim West, her brothers Tim Smith and Mike Smith, and her sister Donna Carmen. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren Pedro G Barajas, Isabelle Barajas, Liliana Barajas, Adrian Barajas, Alex Henderson, Karon Henderson, Ace Barajas, Malia Barajas, and her great-grandson Elias(BooBoo) Hill. Additionally, she is survived by her godchildren Omar Barajas and Eleina Flynn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Debbie dedicated over 30 years of her life working at the pharmacy at GCRMC. Her passion for creating jewelry, cheering on her grandchildren in sports, and her culinary skills were known to all who knew her. She especially treasured the time spent shopping and bonding with her mother, Grandma Lou.
A private funeral service will be held to honor Debbie's life. Special thanks are extended to the staff in the ICU unit at Christus Southern Hospital for their compassionate care during her time there. The family also expresses their gratitude to all those who visited and supported them during this difficult period.
Debbie Barajas will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May her memory be a blessing and may she rest in peace.
