In Memory of Mark William McKinley, Sr.

Mark W. McKinley Sr., 69, formerly of Alamogordo New Mexico, entered eternal rest Tuesday afternoon, March 19, 2024 in Amarillo Texas following a battle with melanoma cancer.

He was born in Clayton, New Mexico April 26, 1954, to Joseph W. McKinley Jr. and Elizabeth A. McKinley (Gideon).

Mark graduated from Alamogordo High School, Class of 1972 and earned his Agricultural Engineering bachelor’s degree from New Mexico State University in 1977. He began his career working for the USDA in 1974 (later known as USDA-NRCS), earning his Professional Engineer’s (PE) license in Civil Engineering in 1983, and continuing his career with them till his retirement in 2011 after 37 years.

Mark is survived by his daughter, Shandalyn McKinley of Runaway Bay TX, and son, Mark McKinley Jr. married to Shae’La McKinley (Pearson), granddaughter Cali and grandson Colt of Canyon TX.

He was a loving son, father, grandpa and friend who enjoyed staying active and close to his family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors (camping, hiking, walking, golfing, and bowling to mention a few), traveling and visiting with everyone. His eagerness to always travel somewhere and visit with someone either in person, by letter or by phone will be remembered and missed.

The family of Mark will receive friends and family on Friday April 12th, 2024 at 10:00 am.
