Thank You to the Alamogordo Community for Your Support of AlamogordoTownNews.com and KRAZY KALH Radio

Let's begin with a huge Thank You to the community of Alamogordo who has supported our news services and been supportive of our growth.

As the publisher of AlamogordoTownNews.com and Chairman of the Board of the various properties of 2nd Life Media the year 2023 was a year of transition, change and yet growth.

During 2023, we expanded our media operations and transitioned KALH Radio from a country format to a format celebrating "the Soundtrack of Your Life" featuring music of the 60s, 70's, 80's and 90's. We modified the format to more streaming and expanded the streaming partnerships 10-fold.

The transition was initially an adjustment for the local community unaccustomed to nontraditional streaming radio. As the community became accustomed to that modified format, and with our social media presence and podcasts featured on YouTube; our listenership has grown by leaps and bounds.

The addition of Pastor Johnnie L Walker and his Introspections featured on the air, via podcasts and via the AlamogordoTownNews.com has brought a whole new base of listeners and readers to our portfolio.

Introductions to the community of DJ Majik1, the health minute from the Cleveland Clinic, and other new additions; we have added value and unique offerings only heard or seen via our media platforms.

We are especially proud of our focus on positive news via our “Alamogordo Proud” series which highlights what is right about our community and is a positive focus to organizations, businesses and individuals making a positive impact.

AlamogordoTownNews.com and AlamogordoConservativeNews.org on Newsbreak has expanded our reach. We now have a minimum of 12,000 daily readers and listeners consistently each and every day.

Some of our stories have garnered a huge regional audience and we are a source quoted often by the bigger media broadcast stations in Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

Our political coverage of both the demise of the local Democratic Party and infighting by its leadership along with the positive stories around Downtown revitalization and the Dudley Schoo,  brought national and international readers and listeners to our platform. One such story drove over 68,000 readers and listeners to our sites in one 24-hour period this fall.

We would not have the growth in listeners and readers, if it were not for the daily operations commitment of our superstar, Anthony Lucero on the airwaves and Chris Edwards, on the written journalist side digging and prodding to get the stories.

It was AlamogordoTownNews.com and KRAZY KALH Radio that covered the trials of Couy Griffin, that consistently releases police arrest reports, that broke the story of the potentially cancelled Christmas Parade and the reinstatement. It was the 2nd Life Media properties that provided in depth analysis of the case filed by Flickinger against the school system, that provided in depth candidate coverage and broke the story of the Otero County Democratic Party suspension from the state affiliation and reports on crime and the local government response.

Consistent coverage of local sports, business and positive news as well round out our journalism weekly. We produced over 1236 stories during the last year on local news, sports and events that shape our lives. Arts, culture and entertainment are the stories that are the most fun as well as those on student achievement and local successes.

The mural projects around the city, student successes from STEM Competitions, to FCCLA to state athletic successes and student sign ons for scholarships; we are the consistent in depth reporting Alamogordo has come to count on

No other media organization in Otero County provides as much information nor the depth of information than does 2nd Life Media via its various channels and platforms.

We are honored by our partnerships, thank our small business sponsors and appreciate the trust our readers and listeners have shown by growing with us.

2024 will bring even more engagement, more expansion of our media presence and more stories to engage, entertain and at times to provoke debate and public discussion.

Every reader and listener will not always agree with the opinion pieces produced by Anthony Lucero nor Chris Edwards. That is Okay.

There are times the right will be upset, politically with our coverage, and there will be times the left, will be upset with our coverage.

Knowledge of that fact  demonstrates we are about where we should be in providing information that does not always please all constituents; but provides information for debate, discussion, dialogue and as a community service under Amendment 1: a free press.

As we go into the final days of 2023, we just want to end with a thank you

May 2024, bring peace to our hearts and collaboration in our actions in partnership to build a greater and more tolerant Alamogordo community that is safe, healthy and prosperous.

Rene Sepulveda Chairman 2nd Life Media
