ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — Otero Arts Inc. opens its annual Members’ Exhibit tonight with a public reception from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Otero Artspace, 1118 Indiana Avenue at 12th Street. The group show, a longstanding membership benefit, features more than 40 works by 29 local and regional artists working in painting, sculpture, weaving, ceramics and other media.

Each participating member may display up to three pieces. The exhibition fills the walls of the restored historic Woman’s Club building—a 1930s Works Progress Administration Pueblo Revival structure that serves as Otero Arts’ home—and remains on view through November 29. Regular gallery hours after the reception are Thursday through Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m.

Works highlighted on the exhibition poster include pieces by artists Prather, Nichols, Allen, Pilgreen, Higgins, Roark-Diehl, Keller and Apprill, offering a snapshot of the range of styles and subjects represented across the full membership show.

The event is supported in part by grant funds from the Devasthali Family Foundation Fund, awarded with assistance from the Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico. Otero Arts, a volunteer-driven 501(c)(3), continues its mission of strengthening the arts community in Otero County and south-central New Mexico through exhibitions, classes, performances and free public programs.

The Members’ Exhibit is one of the organization’s signature annual events, giving member artists a dedicated showcase each November. For more information, visit oteroarts.org, email oteroartsinc@gmail.com or call 575-446-3880.

Fridays  reception is free and open to the public. Otero Arts is open to the public 1 to 4 pm Thursday thru Sunday.
