Tularosa survived a marathon fifth set to beat Capitan 3-2 on Tuesday night, the lone win for Otero County volleyball teams on a night when Alamogordo and Cloudcroft were both swept.
The Lady Cats won 21-25, 25-20, 11-25, 25-23, 20-18, twice rallying from a set down. Capitan took the third set by 14 points and stood one set from the match. Tularosa edged the fourth by two, then outlasted Capitan in a deciding set that ran five points past the usual 15.
Capitan outscored Tularosa 111-102 across the five sets and still lost. The win moves the Lady Cats to 4-10.
Alamogordo opened district play with a straight-set loss to Centennial, 25-9, 25-13, 25-14. The Lady Tigers did not reach 15 points in any set and fell to 6-9 overall, 0-1 in district.
Cloudcroft lost to Hot Springs 25-8, 25-14, 25-18. The Lady Bears scored more points in each successive set but could not extend the match, and their record slipped to 8-5.
Just thought the one thing all these first-timers have in common is no qualifications. Wanting to serve, help, or partake isn't enough. None of these people have any professional experience. Where are the engineers, CPA's, Ph.D's?

Just to weigh in on this. Whatever the editor thinks about his right to publish is certainly his point of view, but it's getting to the embarrassing stage of conjuring divisiveness bent on turning a functioning government he doesn't like, but the people have elected.
The editors point of view is we need a functioning government. The viewpoint allegations were not of the editors making it was mailed to the city with a copy to the editor.
