Silver N.M.- The Alamogordo Lady Tigers had a mixed performance at the Silver City Tournament this weekend, securing a victory in their opening match before falling to Miyamura in a contest cut short by severe weather.

First Match Victory

Alamogordo dominated their opening matchup against Silver, claiming a 2-1 victory behind goals from London Curry and Zoey Spataro. Curry struck first to put the Lady Tigers ahead 1-0 at the 50-minute mark, with Spataro adding an insurance goal to seal the win.

“It was a solid opening performance,” said the team following the victory. Alamogordo moved to 1-0 in tournament play and was set to face Miyamura in their next contest.

Tournament Ends Early for Lady Tigers

The Lady Tigers’ tournament run came to an abrupt end in their second match when dangerous lightning forced officials to call the game with 25 minutes remaining. At that point, Miyamura had established a commanding 4-0 lead.

The match was suspended due to safety concerns for both teams and spectators as severe weather moved into the Silver City area.

Looking Ahead

The loss drops Alamogordo’s record to 1-1 overall. The Lady Tigers will look to bounce back with a home matchup against Deming scheduled for Tuesday. The team will have the opportunity to regroup and refocus before continuing their season.

Fans are encouraged to come out and support the Lady Tigers as they host Deming on Tuesday evening.
