AlamogordoTownNews.org and KALHRadio.org received an anonymous email with no names or phone information claiming to be from a group called Concerned Citizens of Cloudcroft. We attempted to contact the group and have them join us onair with Anthony Lucero for discussion but to know avail. The group made some pretty harsh accusations but due to their failure to respond to us to validate their claims, we will not publish the content of the email. The Cloudcroft Reader reports that Village Council chambers were filled to capacity Monday night as residents witnessed the unanimous appointment of Matt Willett to a vacant trustee seat.
Trustee Jim Maynard, Willett’s business partner at Cloudcroft Brewing Company, recused himself and left the room to avoid a conflict of interest. Trustee Gail McCoy moved to appoint Willett, and Trustee Keith Hamilton—who had previously opposed the timing—seconded the motion, ensuring the matter advanced to a vote. The council then voted unanimously, and Willett was sworn in immediately.
