Tiger Players Visited Sierra Elementary before going off to Albuquerque for a 31 tp 20 victory

The Alamogordo Tiger Football team visited local Sierra Elementary School to rally local fans and gain some well wishes before heading off to Albuquerque.

After a long bus ride the Alamogordo Tigers continued their dominant start to the 2025 football season with a gritty 31–20 victory over Albuquerque High School on Friday night on the road, improving their record to 3 to 0 and proving once again they can win under pressure—rain or shine.

The game began with a lightning delay that briefly threatened kickoff, but as the clouds parted and the sun broke through, both teams took the field with intensity. What followed was a back-and-forth battle that kept fans on edge until the final whistle.

Albuquerque struck first with a 23-yard field goal from Gabriel Fernandez, taking a 3–0 lead late in the first quarter. But Alamogordo responded early in the second, as Bryson Bloom powered through for a 2-yard touchdown run. Though the extra point was missed, the Tigers took a 6–3 lead.

Fernandez added another field goal to tie the game at 6–6, but Alamogordo’s offense found rhythm just before halftime. Quarterback Nate Best connected with Tristan Bowman on an 11-yard touchdown pass, giving the Tigers a 12–6 lead heading into the break.

Momentum surged early in the third quarter when Bowman electrified the crowd with a 90-yard kickoff return touchdown, extending the lead to 18–6. Albuquerque answered with a pair of scores—first a 7-yard TD pass from Andre Martin to Juan Carlos Landeros, then a 4-yard rushing touchdown by Alberto Landeros—briefly overtaking Alamogordo 20–18.

But the Tigers weren’t done. Best led a fourth-quarter comeback, punching in two more touchdowns on short-yardage runs, including a final score with just over three minutes remaining. Kicker Moreno added the extra point to seal the 31–20 win.

An observer stated “The Tigers faced adversity early with Albuquerque taking an early lead, but our Tigers stayed focused and executed when it mattered most. This was a full-team victory against a competitive opponent."

Alamogordo now turns its attention to next Friday’s road matchup against Piedra Vista, looking to extend its undefeated streak positively impacting its state rankings, with a goal to keep the momentum rolling.
