On July 28, 2024, New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau agents were called to 104 Aspen, Trailer 18 in Capitan to investigate a homicide per a release posted to social media.
Agents learned at around 4:30 a.m. that morning, a vehicle occupied by Daniel Hernandez, 29, Gabriel Thyberg, 41, Samuel Rey Duran, 30, all of Roswell, and Benisha Shanta, 33, of Capitan pulled up to 104 Aspen Trailer 18 in Capitan. Shanta got out of the vehicle and knocked on the door for several minutes.
When the residents opened the door Hernandez, Thyberg, and Duran got out of the vehicle wearing masks, bandanas, and t-shirts with “RPD” printed on the front and “POLICE” printed on the back and were armed with rifles. One subject was wearing a ballistic vest. They announced themselves as police and entered the residence, where they shot and killed 44-year-old Nathan Ogden. They stole an unknown amount of money and narcotics from the residence and fled the area. Ogden’s girlfriend was also inside the residence at the time and was unharmed.
On August 5, 2024, NMSP agents, with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service, located and arrested Shanta in El Paso, TX. She was arrested and charged with:
• Murder in the First Degree
• Armed Robbery
• Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery
On August 6, 2024, NMSP agents located and arrested Daniel Hernandez in Roswell. He was charged with:
• Murder in the First Degree
• Armed Robbery
• Attempt to Commit a Felony
• Impersonating a Peace Officer
On August 9, 2024, Gabriel Thyberg was arrested in Albuquerque by the New Mexico State Police and the United States Marshals Service. He was charged with:
• Murder in the First Degree
• Armed Robbery
• Attempt to Commit a Felony
• Impersonating a Peace Officer
On August 30, 2024, Duran was arrested in Albuquerque by New Mexico State Police and the United States Marshals Service. He was charged with:
• Murder in the First Degree
• Armed Robbery
• Attempt to Commit a Felony
• Impersonating a Peace Officer
• Felon in Possession of a Firearm
Also arrested with Duran was his girlfriend, Angela Montoya,27 of Roswell, who was charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm.

Absolutely. I would say those are conservative numbers at 1 in 40. The quickest way to become wealthy in America is to enter politics. I would say Miss McDonald is 1 in a 109. The family fun center fiasco is a true memorial to what nepotism and back room dealing will get you.

Everything in Alamogordo feels fake to me, as if it is some kind of staging ground or network, not an organic community. Since the Manhattan Project, the military has used the town that way, but then there was a hard separation between the base and the town, and maybe that’s where things went sideways.

The corruption which causes reputational damage is too widespread already and is going to overflow into the public eye soon enough. There is nothing anyone, or any group can do to stop it all from coming out. It is not limited to Chamber of Commerce or MainGate, IMO. Its tentacles are choking this city.
this is not an unusual situation involving chambers of commerce - merging government with business interests is nearly as problematic as merging government with churches. either situation places minority stakeholders in positions to manipulate the public's interests.
