The Alamogordo High School Tiger Football Team had the power of the roar Friday August 18th, 2023 as it defeated Silver High School in its season opening home game with a score of Tiger 36 to Silvers 29.
The Tigers begin the season with an impressive to 1-0 and next play at Los Lunas.

A breakdown of the game began with Adan Jacquez 45 yd TD pass to Diego Lucero Silver opened the same to lead Alamogordo 7-0 with 8:47 to go in the first quarter. The first quarter then ended 7 to 0, Silver leading and feeling confident.
During the second quarter Elijah Montoya passed a successful 12 yard touchdown pass to Jason Warren. Alamogordo and Silver then were tied 7 to 7 with 9:59 to go in the second quarter.
Then Landon Sandoval did a 89 yard kickoff return touchdown and a 2 point conversion as a result Silver then led Alamogordo 15 to 7, with 9:48 to go in the second quarter.
Then Silver continued their momentum Adan Jacquez did a 7 yard touchdown run. Silver then led Alamogordo 22 to 7 with 9:28 to go in the second quarter.
Alamogordo then gained some momentum back with Elijah Montoya making a 10 yard touchdown pass to D’Andre Martin. Alamogordo scored and the game went to Silver leading Alamogordo 22 to 14 at the halftime.
After a cool halftime the teams reconvened with Adan Jacquez making a 41 yard touchdown pass to Diego Lucero. Silver widened their lead over Alamogordo 29 to 14 with 7:25 to go in the 3rd quarter.
Then Alamogordo gained with Elijah Montoya passing a 20 yard touchdown pass to D’Andre Martin. The Tiger gain some ground and scored.
The 3rd quarter favored the Tigers as Anthony Audette made a 20 yard touchdown run and the Elijah Montoya passed to Marcus Bryant for 2 point conversion resulting in Alamogordo and Silver being tied at 29 to 29 ending the third quarter.
The fourth quarter allowed the Tigers to bring a victory home, for the Bob Sepulveda Stadium of adoring fans. Elijah Montoya made another strong pass with a 19 yard touchdown pass to Jason Warren. Alamogordo took the lead over Silver 36 to 29 with 21 seconds left in the game.
With that last play the Tigers brought home the win and the stadium was in a roar of cheers and pride for the season opening home game and the first major sports event of the season under new Tiger Sports Athletic Director Alan Edmondson.
In other regional matches Tucumcari defeated Mescalero Apache 32 to 6, Tularosa Wildcats defeated Hot Springs 54 to 0, and Dexter defeated Cloudcroft 54 to 0.
