[Carrizozo, New Mexico, June 14, 2026] Nourishing Nation, a not-for-profit located in Carrizozo, relocated to the formerly unused Carrizozo Recreation Center. Nourishing Nation works to ensure that Lincoln County residents do not go hungry. It currently assists over 500 families through its Roadrunner Food Bank distributions twice a month and Zozo Cluttered Closet, its thrift store.

The move was made possible through the Town of Carrizozo’s Local Economic Development Act and the work of volunteers from Nourishing Nation and Carrizozo Works, Inc. Nourishing Nation is temporarily located in the future event space in the building as work continues to refurbish the two rooms on the north side of the building that formerly held pool tables and arcade games. The bowling alley and snack bar are being cleaned up for possible use by recreation- and restaurant-based businesses.

A ribbon cutting will be held Saturday, June 20, beginning at 10 am. Refreshments will be served and tours of the space will be available. The Recreation Center is located at 106 6th Street in Carrizozo, across from the public swimming pool and next to Spencer Park. For more information, please contact Sandra Padilla at (575) 317-6192.
